brushless drone
vs
brushed drone

Brushless Motors vs. Normal Motors:

When looking for the right drone, you often come across the terms "brushed" and "brushless" motors. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages, but with Killerbee RC we are now making the move to brushless motors in our future models, and already in models such as the X1 SE Sky Predator, X5 SE Viper, GX1 Raptor, and GX2 Cobra.

What are brushed motors?

Brushed motors are the old hand in the world of electronics. They contain small brushes that transfer current to the rotor, causing the motor to rotate. This system works fine, but it is not perfect. This is because the brushes wear out over time, which means that the motor eventually needs to be replaced or serviced. Moreover, they can overheat due to friction, which affects your flying performance.

What are brushless motors?

Brushless motors, as the name suggests, do not use brushes. Instead, the motor is electronically controlled. This means less friction, less wear and, most importantly, more power and efficiency. Since there are no brushes to wear out, you don't have to worry about replacing or maintaining this part. Nice and easy, in other words.

Advantages of brushless motors in drones

Brushless motors have many advantages, especially when it comes to drones. Here are a few key reasons why we like them at Killerbee RC choose to equip our new models with brushless motors:

1.Longer lifespan: Because brushless motors have no moving brushes that can wear out, they last much longer than brushed motors. This means you can enjoy your drone for longer without having to tinker with the motor.

2.More efficient and powerful: Brushless motors deliver more power and are more efficient. This translates directly to better performance in the air. Our drones, such as the X5 SE Viper and the GX1 Raptor, benefit from this increased power and agility, especially if you love speed and tricks in the air.

3.Less noise: Brushless motors are quieter than their brushed counterparts. If you like to fly without attracting too much attention, this is a big plus.

4.Flying longer on one charge: Because brushless motors use energy more efficiently, your battery lasts longer. This means you have more flight time before you need to recharge the drone.

5.Less maintenance: Because there are no wear parts such as brushes, brushless motors are virtually maintenance-free. This is ideal if you want to fly more and spend less time on maintenance.

Why do we choose brushless motors?

Not all our drones currently have brushless motors, but we are now making a conscious decision to equip our new models with these. Drones such as the X1 SE Sky Predator, Cobra, and X5 SE Viper are all equipped with brushless motors because of their better performance, longer life and ease of less maintenance. We want our customers to have the best flying experience, whether you are a beginner or an experienced pilot.

Brushless motors help us make drones that are faster, last longer, and are just more fun to fly.

Conclusion

Brushless motors offer distinct advantages over traditional brushed motors. At Killerbee RC we are always looking for ways to make our drones better and more powerful, and brushless motors help us do just that. If you are looking for a drone that is powerful, quiet, and durable, our brushless models are just right for you.
